At Oulton park presently and the car has done 3, 20 minute sessions no problem. Now it's just stalled after initially firing up and refuses to start. Fuel reads 1/4 full but I'm putting some more in anyway. Looked at fuses and all seem at least present and correct. Depressed the immobiliser button under the bonnet as suggested by an owner. Any other suggestions?

so does it do the rest as expected e.g. you turn key to getting ready to start and if immobilised does the fuel pump prime (noticable electric type noise) when you wave fob beside it?

Turn the master switch off and back on, or disconnect the battery. After that does the fuel pump prime? If not, the areas to look at are immobiliser and ECU. If it does, then sensors, particularly crank sensor.

Good luck . . .

Sudden stop dead (electrics) or stalled to a halt (fuel)?

Fellas thank you.

The problem appears fuel related as though it's not pumping through. Battery is fine. The car stalled after it fired up and then that's that.

I'm not sure if the pump is priming, the immobiliser disconnects if that's the right word. Will try taking a video and put it up to YouTube.

If it's a sigma 140 or 150, try unplugging the MAP sensor.

Check crank sensor, see if it has become loose.

Check (and disconnect) wheel speed sensor (right rear wheel) and whichever fuse it blows when it gets f*cked.

Fault diagnosed by a nice man from the AA. Turns out it's a bad connection into a block connector to the fuel pump. The pump wasn't priming. A wiggle of the wires got the pump to respond. rolleyes

The car has had a temp fix and I drove home from the circuit. Frustratingly I lost the whole afternoon on the phone to Caterham trying to sort it and it was fixed after the session ended. banghead

The car was going really well before then. smile

Before the fuel pump problem. smile

Have to say what fantastic fun on track these cars are, when they move at the back you get so much time in which to play with steering/throttle to correct. Was getting quicker and more confident with the car in the 3rd session and then misery struck...

A real hoot though and leaves me gasping for more!

Fantastic thumbup

Aside from your issue, how else did the car fare? Tyre wear, water temps, oil pressure / usage etc? No noise issues?

Usual graining on the tyres, solid water and oil readings, no problem with noise (trackday exhaust option), revved it to 5K and the man was happy (it was a 105db day), meant to ask him what the reading was but got waved on. Honestly the car was ready for much more, I was really starting to enjoy myself when the issue struck. There WILL be other days though.

yes it can be very frustrating as last year i had an all day trackday and managed a mighty 3 laps i think before had a problem. It happens but for most part they are pretty bulletproof on track (my issue raised its head before trackday and i gambled).

Frustrating certainly but Caterham Mids. are being very good about it. Those wires are really quite exposed though and one wonders about driving the car in the crap of the winter...scratchchin

I've got an hour out at Brands in a Sigma and an R300 on the GP circuit. I'm very excited. Not driven a 7 (on track) for best part of 8 years!

I don't think I'll be able to last 8 weeks before I'll need to get back out on track!

Enjoy your day Bert. smile
