Short term insurance for specialist vehicles

Can anyone recommend an insurer that has brain cells rather than the ability to read off a computer screen and tick boxes? My dad needs to insure his car (a one-off he designed and built, not a kit) for just a month, but we're not having any joy.

Not had direct 'specialist car' cover through them, but my Mrs has had nothing but good experiences with them, and they claim to be specialists in modified cars etc.

My dad is usually insured with you and spoke to one of your staff about it, but they said they can't cover it, I'll drop you a DM in case they were wrong!
