Best way of rust proofing sills

Hi what is the best method to try stop or slow down any rusting to the sills off your car?

I still use it but the tin I have is 20 years old

Can't comment on the new stuff cos I haven't tried it but internet comments seem to indicate it's not as effective as it used to be

My old E12 M535i had its sills drowned in waxoyl years ago via some holes drilled on the top side under the door sill trim. These cars rust purely for fun and mine still has it's original rot free sills so I would try that as long as you don't block any drain holes you can throw as much as you like in there.

there is a plug on the top of each sill could I pour waxoyl in there? How much are you meant to put in?

I prefer Bilt Hamber Dynax to other treatments; don't think Waxoyl is as good as it used to be.

Agreed on the Dynax, I use this stuff now....plus the cans come with a natty little pipe with a fancy end piece that throws it everywhere...perfect for your car OP.

If it's old enough to be worrying about it, are you sure it doesn't need any welding first? Welding waxed areas is... entertaining.

Do check for "need of welding" first! The fire risk isn't extreme, but it is a complete waste of cavity wax!

Rustbusters and FROST both sell better products than Waxoyl, applicators and etc. and can advise.

No, inside. You can get a flexible pipe with a nozzle with holes in the end that you connect to a spray gun (compressed air or manual spray). It needs to be long enough to reach all parts of the inside of the sill to give it a good coating.

You might look to do all the other box sections on the car.

Have found some online. Can I ask if you do treat your sills by injecting this in. Would it then be a huge problem if you ever did need a welded repair to your sills?
