I've not seen a CD player that does this, there are some systems that do similar like the Brennan but its not really a CD player IMO.
If you want this functionality look at some sort of small form facter PC and install Vortexbox on it. This offers auto ripping to thebhard drive and will then act as a server/NAS to stream your tunes to network player of your choice.

Actually I've never seen anything like it before either however I have found 1 that does here

So they do exist but don't seem to be common. TBH ripping with a PC is so easy I'm not sure I seenbthe point.

Indeed, you have absolutely no control over accurately ripping the CD, tagging, artwork etc etc when doing this. Good call on finding something that does it though, I had no idea they existed!http://www.lg.com/us/blu-ray-players/lg-DP122-dvd-...

Years ago my dad bought a recordable CD player that had the ability to record to CD any audio source on its AUX IN (just like a tape deck can). His plan was to transfer his vinyl to CD via his amp. He never used it.
As for CD -> USB, I haven't heard of any standalone unit that does this*. Why do you want to avoid using a PC? Any old PC or laptop running pretty much any OS should be able to rip a CD.

That would be a violation of the CD "Red" Book" standard so would not be implemented. If they could many People would use it to connect to an outboard DAC and nobody has as yet. You should be able to do it via a PC USB output though. Looking at the LG it only transfers to MP3 and some descriptions seem to say that only MP3's on a disc will transfer.

Looks like I'm sticking with PC then...I just find it a faff.
I'd read that DVD players were more likely to have this function, maybe with a hard drive recorder?
There's really not that much more faff with the right software. In all honesty, once set up, I doubt the dedicated hardware you seek would be much less faff. I'd read that DVD players were more likely to have this function, maybe with a hard drive recorder?
What software do you use to rip. Personally I use EAC (Exact Audio Copy) which was initially a FAFF to set up, however ripping is pretty much 1 click from then onwards. Once ripped I then use MP3Tag if there's any anomalies with the tagging, I have a fairly large library and use a Squeezebox/Logitech Media Server system for muiltiroom audio which relies heavily on the tagging being correct and consistent.
I would recommend DBPoweramp if you want a 1 stop shop on Windows for ripping and tagging, the only reason I use the free combination above is because I'm from Yorkshire.
If you really do want automatic ripping and have a machine to dedicayte to the task (and use as a NAS/media server then Vortexbox is worth a look. This a copy and pasted description or Vortexbox
[quote]VortexBox is a Fedora-based Linux distribution that turns an unused computer into an easy-to-use music server or jukebox. Once VortexBox has been loaded it will automatically rip CDs to FLAC and MP3 files, ID3-tag the files, and download the cover art. VortexBox will then serve the files to network media player. The file can also be streamed to a Windows or Mac OS X system.

Even then you are at the mercy of the online tagging sources so I can't guarantee that you won't need to edit the tags it automatically pulls from the internet.
