Dilemma for auto electrician need a solution!!

Ok so tried fixing the interior light it works when you flick it over one side permanent live but the other side when you open door and close door and the delay doesn't work .. I got it to work when I got my little spare 12v volt battery and took the black earth wire off connected a new earth to my battery and then from the original earth wire connected that to the positive to my battery .. Now your thinking.. Eh? Well it worked everything working fine light comes on when open door goes off when key in ignition open and shut door light fades after. 30 secs so I thought I cracked it bit when I put the wires to the car battery to test it sparked and I thought hmmmm what's wrong ?? I've just made it work with my battery but when I put it same wires on car battery it sparks I know someone will say the black wire should be earth but it sits on the positive of my battery ok!!!!!!!

Wonder where the original problem
Is? Break in a wire pos or neg. ? The relay works for deffo

Anything I can do to sort it ?

What do you think the common is on the light fitting... Try & figure it out from your multimeter rather than clip on one pair and then assume the third one will be right IYSWIM.

All that I can remember from the interior light is that it's not wired how you think it should be wired and when you use your common sense it all goes wrong

Agree with sticking a multimeter on all the wires to make sure they are what you think they are.

Pem + to centre then your negs to the other sides of the s/w I think

Ok I get what you say there

There must be a break somewhere around the fusebox it will have to come out at some point

At least I know everything works as it should just got to find the right way !!!

Yeah that was it, that's why normal led bulbs don't work in there. One live, two negatives and the live goes where the negative should be

I have tested normal bulb and have a spare unit with led board that works the wrong way round too !!!!!

So mr auto electrician if you are your there how can I get this to work the normal way there doesn't seem to be a break I do suspect a wire wrongly fitted in the fusebox behind the relay? Funny how it works the wrong way on a separate 12v battery

Don't know if this will help. I had similar ish problems. There are several parallel and serial circuits in the system so its not intuitive how it works. After several hours it turned out the rubber seal on passenger door had come loose, so it was not pressing the plunger on the passenger door switch properly. My problem was the light would not go off though.
