Have read before in PH about losing that ugly number plate holder on V12V. So I had it taken off and so glad that I did as the car nows seems better balanced visually. I would recommend it to those that are considering - looks great :

On mine - before

And after - plus the plate is 3/4 size on the new one

Difficult to tell - but all that black plastic has now gone plus it sits lower revealing more of the grill

I agree it looks a little better without, but I decided to leave mine on as if you ever leave it on the street etc, its the first thing to touch if someone carelessly 'touch' parks, i'd rather have that cracked than a scratched bumper etc. For a car I use in London quite a lot, its a cheap fix and no hardship to keep on.

+1 I would like to expose more of the grille but too risky on a daily driver especially with the CF front splitter

I think that even without the mount, the numberplate is still the most forward part.

The new V12VS doesn't have a number plate plinth IIRC so perhaps not needed to protect the car

I thought the plinth and its mounts were part of the "5mph impact test with no damage" that you have for US market

so if the V12 does not have the plinth, can you drive it into your garage wall at 5mph and not incur damage to the actual car? anyone tested this ? wink

Im not sure thats correct, however even if it is thats not really my point, if the numberplate hits something, or is hit by something, and there is no plinth, there is nothing to give other than a rather expensive 'bumper'.

Each to their own, and whilst agree without looks marginally better, i decided to keep mine for the above reasons.

I agree about bumping. Although being the perfect woman driver I never bump anything! laugh
BUT if someone happened to bump into me parking then I would rather they hit the number plate than the bumper!
