964 Short Shifters
Discussion
OEM RS shifter is by far the greatest upgrade I have done to my 993, (It fits 993 and 964) and its so damn cheap, just make sure they supply the correct fork as well. Its a little taller (which is for the good) but still fits under the original leather boot. Its such a great upgrade, that it feels as if the gearbox has been upgraded not just the shifter.
IMO forget the expense of the shift rod, the feel from just the short shift will more than impress, and I'm not so sure that the very slight movement built left to right in to your original shift is such a bad thing. If your determined to have it however, it can always be added later.
I paid £100 to get mine fitted. Get it done son

Could you post a link for where you bought it from please?IMO forget the expense of the shift rod, the feel from just the short shift will more than impress, and I'm not so sure that the very slight movement built left to right in to your original shift is such a bad thing. Early C2 up to 91 require mods to the tunnel and the new bearing sleeves as Boxsey has said. Later cars no problem, just the sleeve rotated through 180deg.

t. Mine's an 89. What does the mod involve?
The early C2's have a round bearing sleeve while later cars have an oblong sleeve. In the later cars the oblong plastic sleeve is simply turned upside down to raise the lever but to do this in the early cars requires a bit of cutting of the transmission tunel so the new oblong bush can be used.
