Decent used hardtail (stumpjumper?)

In a quest to de pie myself we are off up to dalby forest to ride some trails.
Nothing too heavy just some light off road riding and a bit of arsing around no doubt so don't want a hybrid.
I'm looking for something used. Around 150 quid or lower if possible but man maths does tent to take over with me so I'd easily stretch a few quid.
Must be hardtail I don't like full sus bikes. I'd actually quite like standard front forks too tbh but I think that's a rarity these days. I don't want cheap bouncy forks.
Any suggestions? I've just missed a bargain stumpjumper on eBay local and went for 42 quid, it needed work but that's not a concern to me.

A guy at work borrowed or got given an old Mongoose to use, it was low mileage by the looks of it, but quite old and uncared for.
He's only ridden it for a few weeks and it's had tyres, tubes, rear derailleur, saddle and now the forks have seized. So in a fortnight he's already spent the best part of £100 on an old bone, for £399 he can have a brand new Giant/Spesh/Cannon and have it on the drip at 0%.
Doesn't make much sense to get a used bike unless it's particularly cheap (but not stolen)?

Just to update this I've managed to find virtually my perfect bike.
Its an old GT backwoods, hardtail with Fixed front forks. The only downside is its aluminium but I must be honest its lovely and light. Got a triple on the front and haven't actually counted the rear gears probably 7x3 at a guess. Mavic rims and decent tyres.
Quite low mileage and been well looked after except everything needs a good clean and lube up, but it was £50. So at least if I don't enjoy it I'm not going to lose much!
I had a quick ride round the block last night and its a nice thing, last mountain bike I had I built out of quite high spec components and a nice frame, I hated the ride because I don't like the suspension squishing around as you pedal, but a quick blast round the block (even got a little jump off the pavement back to being a teenager again!!) It felt nice, certainly not a ball ache to ride on the road.
So really chuffed!
