Does anyone know where I can get new roof panels for my S1?

Here's the story of why I need them, which you might find amusing:

I was very excited on the return from my holiday in August to finally collect my TVR after eight months of restoration in Sheffield, despite shelling out £5k. However it ran like a pig and was almost impossible to drive. Both roof panels blew off into the distance on the motorway within minutes of setting off, so I pulled over to call the police in case it was on the carriageway.
Made the mistake of switching off the engine. Dead. Called RAC. Starts
to pour with rain. Police turn up with mangled roof panel, notice car
has no tax. You get the picture - dark, getting wet, cold, dead car, angry policeman - I was not not a happy fellow.

Got home in the end thanks to RAC, and the car went back to Sheffield on a transporter next day. Still not got it back, and the summer has long gone. However it's supposed to be ready next week for Christmas, although still no roof.

Sad story. The only time I have used this particular dealer before I was similarly broken down on the M1 hard shoulder within 20 minutes of collecting the car!

Also, the manual window winder has gone and no one seems to know where to get a new one. Are these and the roof panels in the mysterious AWOL factory container? Or can you help ...?

That is a rotten run of bad luck.

The window winder is off something else I believe and not just TVR so I hope someone can answer this for you.

The roof panels are in demand!

You could try Bell Hill Garage to see whether they have anything, their details are :-

Location: Bath, United Kingdom
Contact: Tom
Business Name: Bell Hill Garage
Website: www.bellhillgarage.co.uk
Phone: 01373 834252

If not, I may be able to help but it won't be for several months.

Good luck.

Nah, never, ever too cold to go topless. Even if its raining so long as you keep moving you stay dry

What a crap run of luck, things can only get better from here on in, eh ?

Window winders are from a 1979-1987 Audi A80, part no. 813837399D

If you get new roof panels, make sure you get the front catches to lock 'em in place. Shiny ones from Leven or cheaper plastic ones from RS (245-5547).

Good luck.

Any VW Audi from latre 80s or you can get nice drilled alloy ones from accessory shops, just ask for VW pattern.
Get a lambskin flying jacket then you only need to use the roof when it rains

Surprised you took the car to them a second time if theyd klet you down before.

So am I! Everyone deserves a second chance, but not a third. RT tells me he's been hunting for a window winder since he picked up the car in January - and for the roof panels since September - but today I went of Pistonheads for the first time and posted a message, and it looks like I've found my parts within minutes ( thank you all!)

Even better than a heated seat would be fitting the Air Scarf system that Mercedes have!
I would thoroughly recommend driving without the top on, I have been out the last few weekends...it blows the cobwebs away, just make sure you wear warm stuff

I don't know about bits for your car but if I were you with your luck I'd stay in bed, its safer.

Good stuff, did you manage to get a pair of panels from Bell Hill?

Bell Hill have a S2 in which they're not sure whether they are going to break, or repair. If they break it I'll get the roof panels and a few other bits. They also have a S1 in which they are breaking, but it only has a near side roof panel.

So if anyone wants any bits call Bell Hill, and it might persuade them to break the car they have (sad though it is to take another off the roads).
