Tyres too wide

Hi all

I've had my car about a yr now the tyre tread (Kumhos)is all good (4-5mm) but I think I will have to replace them next yr. (one tyre is an unmatched Nexan and almost new p.o. must have damaged it or a puncture maybe)

It's only when I was doing some maintenance that I realised the tyres are too wide for the rims which are 7.5"

Rear 255/40/17
Front 235/45/17

When I swap I'll go for 225/50/17 (slightly bigger diameter) which are closer to the original tyres on the car (225/55/16) they should fill the archs better and I prefer the same sizes all round.

Bearing in mind the tyre rim thing should I bring the swap forward or just wait till they are worn enough to justify the spend?

If the tyres are too wide for the rims theres a possibility, that if you make an extreme manoeuvre they might come off the rim, but its very unlikely. Manufacturers dont put recommended rim widths on tyres specs for a laugh.

Ah okay, any other downsides? looks like I'll leave till next yr.
