What did I see?

Today I saw a car going the opposite way, in Horncastle, that I couldn't identify.

It looked like a Saab 9-5, but with a bug eyed Subaru front end.

I am aware of the Sabaru for the American market, but this was the opposite way round, bug eyes, on Saab body.

Is it a model I've never heard of, or a custom job?

No, that's the Sabaru thing I mentioned.

This a Subaru bug eye front end, on a Saab body.

It's possible. I used to regularly see a car that was a Honda Ballade at the back and a Rover 200 at the front. I'm not sure if it was a cut and shut or if just the front panels had been replaced, but I imagine that you could achieve the same effect with a Saab and Subaru that share their platforms and vital bits.

There are some good suggestions on here, but sadly non are right.

It was definitely the bug eye Impreza front end.
