The problem is that burglary and assaults are classed as "signal crimes", with a potentially more devastating result on the victim.
As with everything else, CID will be subject to performance indicators and objectives, set by the higher ups. Basically, if "your" crime doesn't fall within their remit, with limited resources, it's a non starter.
Our Divisional CID is running at about 40% of its establishment, because DCs and DSs are constantly abstracted to long term, major enquiries, either in the Division, or elsewhere in the force.
I'm not suggesting that being the victim of a £25k fraud is fun, just trying to give you the reason CID may not have taken it on.
And what's wrong with a uniformed officer dealing with it...?!

CID wont zap you for doing 80 on a motorway..different departments, different remits....we really need to get that across...that sort of statement is the reason why trafpol numbers are the lowest ever...!
You are absolutely correct with stats and paperwork.
Minorities officers,
Race equality officers,
school liaison officers,
Anti-social behaviour officer (work alongside local government)
etc etc etc

Then we have to make sure that as many people as possible use their vote. If we get the same p1ss poor turnout as last time, then we are likely to get the same result. If you don't vote, you don't deserve to sit in on this forum whinging about crappy government.
Problem is, its not just central government. I suspect that most of the stupid speed limits are down to local goverment.
So not only do we need to get Nulab out, we need something to happen at a local level.
I suppose if the Tories would get rid of speed cameras, that might be sufficient.

I agree wholeheartedly...people have died fighting for their right to a vote and yet so many brits take it for granted...disgusting..

My dad is in fraud prevention and currently has one scrote who tries on a nearly daily basis to rip him off to the tune of thousands of pounds, each time in a different name / accent. We have his address and after a bit of digging his real name. Can we get the law to go round up this geezer? Not a chance.
Between my dad and myself we've been stopped 6 times in the last year (both high mileage drivers) for speeding, all but twice with unmarked cars.
Is it not time for a bit of prioritisation?

That's right...keep it up...whining about traffic police...
It is no wonder there are less and less dedicated traffic officers only to be replaced by cameras...
You should be shunned by every corner of the motoring world for being party to the reason why we are in the mess we're in..
