Discussion
Hello all
Just cleaned my M5 ready for a show tomorrow. Thought id put it up on here

I have had it for a couple of months and intended to keep it standard......then the tuning bug came along and the first thing i had to do was the muffler delete. I needed to hear some more of that V10 howl!

Out of interest from those that have driven / owned both, how does the v10 M5 compare to the v8 M3? I know the engine is virtually the same in the m3, just with 2 less cylinders - feel and speed wise, are they similar?
Obs the M5 is a lot more powerful although the m3 is a bit sharpe - are they similar to drive where you have to rag them to get the best out of them?

Both are fabulous, but you'd find it very hard to go from the M5 to the M3.
That V10 is so special.
The M5 is of course less of a sharp drive in the twisties (but still handles well), but it will leave the M3 on open roads, especially beyond 100, where it remains one of the fastest accelerating cars out there.
I still dream about my E60!

I have run 2 E60 M5s over a total of 4 years and 60,000 miles and then in May of this year moved to an E92 M3. I have just sold it back to the BMW dealer I purchased it from, which probably tells you all you need to know.Out of interest from those that have driven / owned both, how does the v10 M5 compare to the v8 M3? If I were to sum up how I felt about the M3, massively capable but absolutely no sense of occasion, and thus, for me, boring.

I've had both m5 and 2 x e92 m3sThat V10 is so special.

The m3 is IMHO a far superior car if you are after a drivers car....handles better, is plenty fast enough and just feels so special when you are 'in the zone'
In comparison the m5 just felt heavy and the gearbox is just crap, and simply cannot compare to the awesome dct
Just my tuppence worth!

The last two cars that involved the driver made by BMW were the E46 М3 and the E60/1 M5. Everything since then has been a lot quicker and a lot more boring to drive. They call it progress. I really tried to like both the F10 and the E9x. Had the F10 for a weekend extended test drive and yes, it was phenomenally quick, but utterly dull to drive. Spent quite some time on track in a V8 M3 and yet again, it was utterly rubbish at eliciting any emotion from me. Hence I went backwards and bought a mint 996 GT3 Club Sport with 400bhp...The m3 is IMHO a far superior car if you are after a drivers car....handles better, is plenty fast enough and just feels so special when you are 'in the zone'

Well ive been in my E60 for a couple of months now and absolutely adore it.
Came from a W215 CL600 biturbo which I think is marginally quicker than the M5 but much less involving!
Everyone moans about the SMG but i love it! As long as you drive in manual on the paddles on max attack, its a dream.
If you havent driven one, try it! Much better than the E39 i had a few years ago!
