Is anyone investing in US companies who are involved in or related to the legalised cannabis industries in some of the US states?

If you could get pay-per-pun revenue you'd do OK - Telegraph today has article on GW Pharma and its cannabis derived therapeutic drugs "GW Pharma scores US drug success".

Not sure whether there are listed companies involved in the recently-legalised recreational market - investing could be a bit of a giggle, but might just be a pipe dream and if they made a hash of it your money could go up in smoke.

Listed plays might include tangential markets like cookie and soft drinks companies or small retail premises (like our Local Shopping REIT - not that they're doing well at the moment, though there has been some improvement since they managed to finalise the sale of a chunk of the portfolio).

More than slightly off topic but this is another example of where the UK will be left behind! We could be at the forefront of research on this and wouldn't necessarily have to change drug laws to do it.

Instead we will let everyone else do the research and then pay a fortune for drugs through the NHS.

Ah, but GW Pharma is a UK company, based in Porton Down, so it is a UK success story - wish I'd paid attention and bought the shares before they shot up 10x.

Same here then! I'd assumed this research was going hand in hand with the US relaxation in certain states.

Had a play around with a few stocks the likes of CBIS PHOT MJNA HEMP in the potfolio few months ago.

Problem is there all OTC penny stocks ... high risk is an understatement.

I bought into GW Pharmaceuticals about 10 years ago. Still hold them now. Not got loads but enough to enjoy the rise that's finally happening.

I was thinking about some of the infrastructure alongside the actual product/end users etc after reading about this US company in Colorado who handle the sums of cash generated from the legalised pot industries.

Apparently the federal state is prevented from handling the cash the industry generates due to marijuana remaining illegal at federal level, so this security outfit have expanded to make regular cash collections and deposits to banks.
