Why aren't top of the range luxury cars offered as estates?

I'd quite like one of these, the luxary 4x4's just aren't me. perhaps if I every have the money to consider one and place to go with it that would change?
XJ6 Estate for me please, with those picnic tables on the back of the front seats. Perhaps a new XJ estate too for when I'm feeling more modern, I'd be quite interested to see what Jaguar would come up with for that. Really like the new XJ, just the right blend of tradition and modern touches, got followed, and then overtaken by one the other week and it just looked great from every direction.

As estates have a utilitarian image in many parts of the world, the idea would probably not catch on, although there might be reasonable demand in the UK.
Could an estate match the refinement of a luxury saloon car though? And would it even be a useful estate, or just one that is compromised by the styling demands of luxury car buyers, as we have seen with the likes of the CLS Shooting Brake and pretty much every estate currently offered by a premium manufacturer.

BTW I'm holding the OP personally responsible for the fact that I now despirately want a coachbuilt XJS Estate...

I'd love to know. Even standard stuff is losing the estate version as car makers seem to think we all want SUVs so we the new Macan, Q3 etc. There aren't any bigger on the inside just a bit higher.
Fast estates are getting even thinner on the ground. Its Audi or almost nothing, although I do like the look of the 335d touring.
Nothing to replace the Impreza wagon or 9-3 aero in the same size. RS3 maybe but not quite.
AMG CLS estate looks quite tasty.
