Swapping run-flats for normal...can I part exchange tyres?

Hi all

As the title suggests, does any know anywhere where I can part exchange tyres?

I have a 130i M-Sport with 18inch run-flats and the ride quality is way too harsh. I've read that get rid off the run-flats will make things much better.

I did it on my mini and can't tell the difference. I wouldn't bother if I was you.

No where will PX afaik. Sell the old wheels and tyres on ebay (and brace yourself for all the weirdos that seem to inhabit it now)

You could try offering them for sale @ one of these part worn tyre places but don't get too excited about this.

No need to sell the wheels. The tyres will fetch decent money, but give accurate information about tread depth and condition (including pictures of the minutest kerb-marks) to avoid a deluge of questions.

Ignore low-ball offers (don't even entertain them with a reply).

MyHermes will courier them for about £10 each.

I swapped them out on my 330, tyres go on the same wheels. It made a massive difference as it doesn't tramline for England any more and the ride is noticeably less harsh. I'd recommend it in a heartbeat. Just keep the RF's and offer them with the car when you come to sell it on. Some people prefer the idea of them and value their benefits over the ride.....

I'd put them on eBay. I bought 4 Conti sc5 (225/40/18) for £424 from camskill so it's not that expensive to change. (Same car as yours)

Sorry to hear it didn't make a difference in the Mini, maybe suspension played a part in that.

Unfortunately, I have nowhere to store them long term for when I sell the car on but I will put them on ebay straight away.

I'm really surprised by that. The biggest change made to my mini, and it completely changed the handling (for the better) was swapping out the run flats

You sure you're suspension's in good order?

No idea if the suspension is in good order... Will find out when I get it serviced/mot'd in a couple of months. Nothing to make me think that there is a problem with it.

Depending on when you changed yours maybe run-flats have come on a bit. The ones on mine were less than two years old and were quite expensive.

Maybe it's just me. But I didn't notice the night and day change a lot of people are talking about. It still feels a little too firm over bumps.

So for my the only difference is now I have to drive around with a can of gunk (which I've not actually got yet) and worry about causing enough damage to leave me stranded.

Really? I'm amazed. I swapped to 16s, and the benefits are immediate.
