Where to buy wheel paint in person?

Morning all, i'm on holiday from work this week. I've decided to go on a bit of a mission to paint my alloy wheels, as I despise them as they are now. I want to get started today though (no whinging about the me me me I want it now! Y generation thanks)

I am looking for gold wheel paint. ECP don't have any in stock. Halford only seem to stock gold enamel paint but will that be any good on wheels?

Is there any places i'm not thinking of?

This will be a quick job as i'm only planning to use them for the next three months, so it doesn't need to be perfect.

Hobby Craft as above , sell various spray paint products.

If it's just for a short term job, then a quick rub down and clean and spray with enamel should be fine. I guess it will chip off after some time.

Just go to an automotive paint supplies place,they will mix you any colour you like and put it in a rattle can if you don't have the facilities to use a spray gun etc. miles cheaper than halfrauds too.
I got some gold paint in the correct code for some clio Williams wheels not long back,I paid £14 for half a litre.

I used enamel appliance white paint on a set of mine from Halfords. Buy 3 cans of grey primer first and double the amount of lacquer you think you'll need. Mine are a little soft because I didnt put enough lacquer on them, but they were cheap tart up spares so I didnt care too much

I know this is typical answering a question you didn't ask... But you can get them powdercoated at about £50 a corner and it will be a better job which will last a damn sight longer. You normally even get some of that back on the resale.

I just mention it because I bit the bullet last month and wish I'd done it years ago rather than piss around with rattle cans.

Well, I am getting money together to have my main set of wheels refurbed/painted in the next three months.

The wheels i'm painting this week are just a spare set. I got them for free and they are worth the square route of zero so I thought i'll have a crack at it while i'm off work

Thanks for all the suggestions though chaps. I've called a few auto places around here but none were able to provide this service :/

I was just about to go over to Halfords but think i'll try a few more calls and will definitely look on hobbycraft. Completely forgot about that place!

This. Absolutely!

Unless you are going to strip the tyres from the wheels and then spend an age with each wheel layering on filler primer, rubbing down between each coat and using only top quality materials it really isn't worth it in terms of time, cost and finish.

Romford boy!! There used to be a paint manufacturers down the a12 end of Mawney road, if it's still there they're good and will stick in into spray cans for you. If not there's another around the back of Harold Wood train station

can't really be of any help as to where you can buy some. i refurbed the wheels on my mr2 for the costly sum of £22, i'd recomend stripping old paint, sanding nicely, priming, painting and then adding a clearcoat. sounds alot of work but me and the oh had it finished it a few hours.

finish was respectable.

Yes Romford boy haha did migrate to East Ham for a while but back in the hometown now!

Somebody else recommended the shop by the A12 but I gave them a call and it all added up to more than I wanted to pay

By 1pm I just wanted to crack on so went to Halfords 5 minutes away and bought 4 cans of Gold enamel paint, 2 cans of primer, 2 cans of clear coat and loads of prep stuff.

Anyway, front two wheels are finished (i think) and will dry for 24hrs. Will do the rear two tomorrow morning as i'm feeling a bit high now...

Have to say, for £45 and a few hours graft, first attempt is not looking too bad. Colour looks nice too. I did have some problems with runs where I was getting a bit close, but think I got the hang of it in the end.
