Sell my mx5 nc for an s2000?

Before I bought my mx5 I was looking to get an s2000 but didn't have the funds for a good one. Things have now changed and I could get a good late model ap2. Thing is I do like my mx5 and have put a few quid into it with servicing, cosmetic upgrades and had wheels in motion drop the suspension and sort out the geo. Its a really nice little car, not overly quick but its well suited for the roads down here in devon so I am thinking I dont actually need the extra power but I prefer the look of the honda. What do you people think?

Thats exactly the way I look at things these days after just losing my mum and a close Aunt. Those two events have given me the means to aquire these cars and im sure they would approve.Just to be horribly pedantic: I know you mean the post-04 facelift, but AP2 refers to the north american model equivalent which was tweaked to 2.2l displacement (and different gear ratios, I think).
S2000 insurance quotes can be scary, but try Sky Insurance and Need2Insure - both of which offered much more reasonable rates to me.
Of course it's worth considering the obvious alternatives too - a 986 boxster or Z4.

I've not owned a MX5 but I'd say the S2000 is a car from the next league up. Give a few a drive and see what you think. I've not experienced any problems insuring my S2000, although I am now officially old, married and with no claims for decades; fully comp for £300 in a 'bad' postcode.

I had one for over 3 years as a DD. Drove across europe, across the UK, used it to commute and loved every second.
I only sold as I have a long commute and have gone for a company car and couldn't justify a motorbike and second car
I'd avoid the 08/09 as the engines seem weaker (internet says so).

This did cross my mind. The 5 is a bit underpowered but as a result is a lot more forgiving whereas the s2k could be a bit of a handfull.I took the car out on dartmoor today. This was the first time I have been able to properly try out the new suspension setup and I was well impressed. It was good before but wheels in motion have transformed it into the car it should have been all along.

Sounds like you may be a little bit in love with your 5, I sold myn cos i was bored with the standard car, it was at the point I either pumped a load of money into it or got something different. As said above life's too short to not try other things, and im sure you'l love the s2k although I haven't driven one.I took the car out on dartmoor today. I do sometimes still miss the 5 it was the most reliable/cheap to run and very fun to drive, but it was for the best (or at least that's what i keep telling myself
)If you decide you've made a mistake you can always get another NC. I mean, it ain't like they are thin on the ground. And on the plus side, if you do go back they will be even cheaper since they are still depreciating.
Boxster, z4 or 350z are also good shouts. The extra cylinders make for a whole other experience.

Had An S2000 Mr2 Turbo, Z4 3.0, and a facelift Boxster s 986.

The z4 and Boxster are better made. Z4 too hard, Boxster nicest of all to drive.
