Help buying a car for a friend.

Hi everyone, looking for some advice on buying the car below:

I'm going to view this car with a lady I work with to make sure she doesn't get fleeced/pressured into a sale/raped.

I like to think I have a reasonable knowledge of what to look for and check when buying used, but i usually go into any car purchase with my eyes open and I'm not adverse to spanners. My colleague, doesn't even know what a spanner is.

I'm going to do some research over the next few days, but does anyone have any experience with these with what to look for etc? I'm going to go with a target price of £2000 given that the tax expires in 40day's and it doesn't have 1 years mot as advertised. Do you think we should aim lower?

I personally would swerve this vehicle because its a dealer (home unregistered i'd imagine), he doesn't know the engine size it'll be a 1.6 these bits usually add up to a fake service history from sellers cousines mates garage.
price wise you could try for £2000 and probably get it which is not a bad price for an 06 convertible.

It's electrics with these really, though the belt should be changed at 60k I think (memory hazy) so it might be due a large'ish service. If everything electrical works then anything else is a bonus

Roof faults are likely to be your biggest worry.

Operate it more than once to make sure all is well.

Peugeot make a dogs breakfast of their electric hoods.

Far too many sensors, which can get out of sequence far too easily.

They are so bad even their dealers don't want anything to do with them, & quote ridiculous prices to sort them.

They wanted $2000 to sort my daughters 306. Fortunately I found a backyard mechanic who sorted it for $250 the first time it stopped, & the 2Nd, & the 3Rd & so on. 6 times in 2 years.

Having now looked at what car OP, is looking at, I'd say avoid. I know two people who've had a 206cc, both have been disappointed & spent lots of ££

Take a screenprint of that before you do anything!

That made me laugh. And as much as many might like to, I'd still not want see her getting ripped off. Thank you for the replies so far.

She knows absolutely nothing about cars, and I have tried to convince her to buy something else especially not an old french convertible but she's having none of it. She has listened to me in that if its not right to walk away.

Like some of you, I believe that this guy is a trader from home and the car is going to be a complete dog with underlying problems that he is trying to hide. If anything I'm going with her to make sure she DOESN'T buy it so we can go view other cars that don't stink of problems a mile off.
