Super unleaded Vs regular ... Prices

I have just switched to a car which recommends using Super unleaded. Fine i thought, a few extra pence per litre never hurt anyone.
My local garage (bp) currently has petrol at 129.9p and diesel at 133.9p . Super unleaded? 142.9p
there seems to be a far bigger gap between what garages charge for super compared to regular unleaded, with there being about a 4p variation in regular and an 11p variation in super (tesco in horsham do super for 131.9p)
Unfortunately no garages near me or my place of work are any cheaper

At an extra £5.72 per tank it would actually be cheaper for me to drive the 40 min round trip and fill up in horsham
but i am too lazy for that!

Yes, but watch the Tesco stuff, it doesn't seem to age well. The petrol is exactly the same, what is different is the addatives they use. Shell/BP etc. all add anti foaming agents and stabalisers to the fuel. Does exactly what it syas on the tin, stabalises the fuel for longer life sitting in a tank, both at the petrol station and in your car.
The Grangemouth bloke said that if you are going to go through the petrol fairly quickly, like in your daily/commuter that you fill up once a week, go for the Supermarket stuff and save money. You will never notice a difference.
If it's for anything nice that doesn't see a lot of use, like a weekend toy/track car or if you do long trips away etc. etc. avoid the supermarket stuff as it'll sit in the tank and "go off" so to speak.

My Impreza runs on SUL only. I use Tesco momentum. Due to a few issues with the car, it was sat for several weeks, and at one point, about 3 months. On both occasions the battery died, Once charged, it started right up with no apparent issues with fuel.
To the OP - I find Tesco momentum gets me the best MPG. No idea why (nor do I care why) but it does. It's also one of the cheaper options, Price last week was £1.33.9 a litre.

Yep it is,Car is a MINI cooper s. The manual says it will work with anything over 91 ron, but recommends using regular (95 Ron) in the One and Cooper models, and super (97+ Ron) in the Cooper S. Whether it makes any real world difference is another matter, and at 13p per litre difference I may end up just using regular!
If you get one of the Shell points cards I believe you get double points on super. Doesnt take long to build up the points and if you opt for fuel vouchers rather than the other 'rewards' (you should) then they tend to send out around one a month or two if you are doing a couple of fillups. Plus you tend to get 'bonus 250 points per fill' kind of things at the same time.
They arent loads of money, but it definately softens the overall costs, leaving it not much more than standard fuel all things considered.
Plus if you put your fuel on a credit card (which you pay off every month) that also allows you to accrue points per pound then you get even more back. Ive gotten just over £200 Amazon vouchers from mine.

Within 10miles of me, SUL is between 130.9 (Tesco) and 137.9 (Shell/BP)
I've started using Tesco 99 and found it no different to Shell V power. Both good options IMO. Shell loyalty is ok but i'm sure equates to about 1-2% cashback in fuel every quarter.
