I'm planning a Whisky trip to Speyside and have come across the Highlander Inn in Craigellachie as a potential place to rest our fuzzy heads!
They seem to have a very good Whisky selection and the staff certainly have pedigree.
Has anybody stayed here?
We're planning a few distillery tours whilst we're up there, are there any must do's or ones to avoid?

Only ever had a meal there - which was merely OK in my opinion. There is the Mash Tun in Aberlour as well if its that type of place you want to stay.
Tours - having mentioned Aberlour - a good example of a tour.
Glenfiddich basic tour is rubbish - but you get plenty to sample as compensation.
Glenfarclas is good as well actually.

The Mash Tun has a good atmosphere, but a limited menu. The Fresh over the road does a mean Cullen Skink.
The Balvenie tour is brilliant. They still have their own maltings and their own cooperage, so you see everything in one tour. Join their warehouse 24 club ( free) before you go - you get a special extra tasting.
Aberlour's casks from the past is not a tour, but a guided tasting of whisky that's not generally available, and is excellent.
You need to book well in advance for the good tours.

The Balvenie tour was on the list as well as Glen Grant and Aberlour. However, as we'll be up there out of peak season (Nov) and on a weekend, i'm guessing that some tours won't be running.
I'm more of an Islay dram fan but the others are well into the Speyside offerings. Looking forward to a enjoyable few days.
