Landscape locations in the South?

I'm planning a camping trip for a couple of days at the beginning of September. Top of the list was Exmoor National Park but I also thought about Brecon Beacons. Can anyone recommend anywhere within 1/2 day drive of London that would make a good camping / photo trip?

A friend and I winged it once and ended up in Pembroke, located a camp site and stayed in the area armed with our cameras. It was a pretty place to capture but also had the Pembroke Oil refinery. Plenty of beaches to if you like some cliché sunset shots and also national parks, rocky out crops and plenty of wildlife.

This was pretty early on in my photography based hobby and I was only shooting JPEG back then... how times have changed!
