What should I go for?
I have a play 1 (test) I like it. Needs more bass tho. Get a play 5 and a 1 to be paired?
Any deals on?

Just get a play5, don't pair a play 1 and 5 they are completely different. If you want 2 speakers go for two play3's

there is a sub woofer available, but I seem to remember it was pretty pricey. I don't think you would need a 5 AND a pair of 1s in the same room.

I have a bridge hooked into a decent stereo and it sounds superb, but unless you already have a stereo that is probably more expensive.

Yes I have an old Sony which sounds better than the 1. Didn't know the bridge works with all other stereos? What's required?

You just plug it in to an "input" socket(s) with normal cables. Select the input as source on your stereo and away you go.

I enjoy the sound of the 1s and 3s I have, but had a quiet night the other night and listened to some stuff via the stereo and was blown away by how much better it was.

You will need a sonos connect. That allows one rca input and one rca output also optical out. That gives your existing hifi sonos capabilities.

So essentially use the app and play through hifi?

Yes.
The connect appears just like any other "room"
Edit: the only negative is that the stereo needs to be on and the correct source needs to be selected.
Normally you would be in the room so it's not a major PITA but it's just not quite as slick.

Yep thats the one.

I did have one in my system as an input device but removed it as don't need music from Apple TV anyway. Gave it to a mate who uses it with his Hifi, every time i turn up there is music playing now.

It works exactly the same as the play 1 you have. Just plug a network cable from the unit to your wifi box, or use a sonos bridge with it. Connect the bridge to the network and that will then communicate with the connect via the Sonos Mesh(Wireless).

Yes - IMO 1s, 3s and 5s solo or paired are bedroom/kitchen/study speakers. If you want to listen to your music properly, you are better off using a ZP100 (Connect?) wired into your hifi and speakers.

Can I use the play 1 as gateway? Use this thing standalone connected to the hifi

Do you have your 1 connected to the Wifi point already and it works. Never tried it myself. If what you are using works now then adding a connect will work wirelessly.

Ok I which case I recon that you will be fine with a connect on wifi only however a bridge is only £35 which means the play1 can be wifi too.

Bridge just provides wireless, no RCA digital out?

Someone above corrected me - it's called a connect, I was mistaken about the bridge
