Windscreen all done.....
Discussion
Hi Peeps...Well after much messing about by the insurance company i have finally had my screen replaced...Paul the Glassman came over this morning and set to it..I must say i was totally impressed with the care and methodical preparation Paul applies when working..I doubt very much if any of the national known windscreen companies would even come close...He is also a very nice chap.
The removal was done very carefully and properly with no damage whatsoever to the adjoining trim...

On closer inspection there were quite a few parking tickets that had slid down the front of the screen..

Cleaned and prepped..

The glass was then cleaned to remove any traces of silicone which hinders the curing of the bonding..And then a very professional bead of bonding was applied to the new screen..

Fitted...

Then the trim was fitted...

And cleaned..

The old screen definitely had seen better days...

It wasn't even stuck in some places which meant that water was getting in..Some of the previous bonding was stuck all over the trim but Paul cleaned that up and i must say I'm totally happy with the work carried out and would recommend him to anyone in the future...He even offered to come back and replace the trim if it starts to lift, It was a little thinner then planned but I'm well chuffed with it...A MASSIVE ..
..From me...Ziga

Parking tickets......... ?
Hi Frank...Sorry they are not parking tickets as in fines...They are pay and display tickets...Im glad i was also able to re-stick the untidy bit of vinyl that was coming off the dash....ZigaMust say, it looks a neat and tidy job he's done !

Ah, got you ! Were they the reason of the vinyl not being properly seated ?

I think its just age as most of the foam under the vinyl has crumbled like a dry cake...I will at some point be re-trimming my Wedge as a test of my trimming skills when I'm ready to start...I just glued and tucked it back for now...Its the only time you can get to that part of the dash unless it being removed...Well chuffed....ZigaMust say, it looks a neat and tidy job he's done !

I sourced some material some time ago which has some more durable foam and a woven backing, making glueing onto panels a lot easier, but still is only 3-4 mm thick
If you like a sample, mail me your address !

Yes, that foamy stuff is sh*te, it desintegrates, collects in places which then go hard...particularly unpleasant in spots like the armrests !

Thanks for that mate...I do actually have some, Its called scrim foam and is used as a head lining for cars but its also used as a backing for vinyl and leather to give it some body before being fitted to interiors...I used it on the TVR logo that i stitched to give it some pronunciation ...I sourced some material some time ago which has some more durable foam and a woven backing, making glueing onto panels a lot easier, but still is only 3-4 mm thick

the quality of your work has a rapid progress, thats for sure !
Thanks mate...I was volunteered for a mind control programme in 1969 by me ole mum..Money was tight back then so it helped out a lot..Just now and then someone reactivates the chip they inserted into my earhole and the consequences are information overloads..The main experiment was to induce a rapid learning processes in the brain so that the educational period of an individual was significantly reduced, This would allow the physical properties to aggressively mature..The science was intended to be applied to world space programmes..(WSP) for the advancement of evolution in space of a superior being...Unfortunately they overlooked the interference that drink, Drugs, Sexy ladies and music play in such an environment..The programme was scrapped and i was sent packing...Every so often enough static builds up to create a fast learning curve...However fantastic this sounds it's very limited in its redundant state...My attention span and memory capacity is measured in nanoseconds... Time Over space = 47.234.000.00the quality of your work has a rapid progress, thats for sure !
PS: This is a load of made up twaddle and is meant purely to entertain..I think....

Is the above therefore to say you've peaked on your upholstery skills and you are now turning to drugs, sexy ladies, music and ample amounts of drink again ?
