964 Tiptronic to 6 speed manual: opinions please
Discussion
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if I could ask for your collective wisdom.
I own a 964 which I have had for nearly 20 years and am the second owner. The car was originally a Tiptronic, but about 12 years ago I fitted a 6 speed manual gearbox from a 993. The job was done by Steve Winter at Jaz and it was very thoroughly and completely done. Now I will tell you it cost me quite a bit at the time and tbh I should have just sold the car originally and bought a manual box car. However at the time the car I was attached to the car and just wanted to keep it, so I opted for the conversion. I have had zero problems with the conversion(or car for that matter) and it gets regularly serviced etc and the car now has about 60k miles on it.
My question is if I were to sell my car(still haven't come to terms completely with this concept though!) do you feel my car should be marked down price wise compared to an original manual car and if so by how much? Would people not want to own such a car and if so why? Many thanks for all or any opinions.

I have heard the 993 box is extremely expensive to buy let alone fit so can't see it being a detraction. Should still trade at similiar price to a nice manual 964 I was wondering if I could ask for your collective wisdom.

I'd advertise it as any other manual 964, but detail the conversion as it's been done by a reputable indie.
Is it a C2 or C4?
Can I ask how much the conversion cost?
Is the 993 gearbox and improvement over the 964 gearbox?
It's a C2. They never made Tiptronic for the C4.Is it a C2 or C4?

From what I remember it was about 6-7k then. but it was a massive improvement. It transformed the car. Also put in an LSD from the RS 993 so I feel it was well worth it drive wise at least.

Thanks everyone with their replies so far. My thoughts were along similar lines that it should be advertised similarly to a manual 964 Cab. After all in the 12 years since I did the gearbox conversion it has given no problems at all and has benefited greatly from the 6 speed box(which I also feel is slightly better in feel than the original 964 5 speed box).
