My old 6-4S is still much enjoyed @ 70K miles on it, sounds right, goes well, understated, park it anywhere and it does everything I need it to do for a daily driver, but I know the engines are prone to bore scoring / IMS issues.

It uses about 1/4 litre of oil for every couple of thousand miles, and I have no reason to believe there is anything wrong inside it at all.

However, if/when it lets go, does anyone in the UK do a 3.8l or 4.0l exchange engine package with some cams in and the IMS fix done..?, another 50-60bhp is all that it needs along with some GT3 front brakes for when you lean on it hard..! if I had an X51++ motor that would be just fine.

Autofarm does this, but its pricey. You could probably change it for a GT3 for less.

Thanks MTR, I know the company they do a 3.9l motor, but can't find any prices or specs on their website..
What's your best guess for 1 of these..?

Also I'm not looking to make a GT3, I've had a 7.1, but it was just too harsh as a daily driver and the heavy clutch drove me nuts in traffic, if an exchange engine unit package was available at a sensible price I might consider it before anything goes pop with mine.

IMO - Save your money to put against a 997 4S.

Doing anything smart with your engine and upgraded internals is going to cost the thick end of £8k.

8k for a standard rebuild maybe. What the op is talking about will be 15k+.

Buy a newer better car. Simples.
