Removing the drivers mirror from door - how easy?

I have the dreaded white corrosion on my drivers door mirror arm and am wondering just how easy it is to remove the mirror to repaint my self?

but am wondering if anybody can tell me just how long it will take me (approx) and if there are any complications along the way that make it difficult to do at home?
