So that 5.7 V8 waterpump in the boot....
Discussion
of the boat
Have aquired my first ever yankee V8 a Chevy 5.7 hemi four barrel, re-badged as an OMC Cobra that's lurking in the back of our newly purchased boat. It does sound nice I have to say!!! the 45gallon fuel tank may take some getting used to though
Alledgedly it's 260bhp but I some how doubt that, feels more like 160 to me
So what makes these go faster?? apart from a basic tune up.
It's in the back of this, we might be out at the Bournemouth airshow with it if I can sort it in time & the weather holds up.

Don't think Chevrolet ever made a true Hemi motor. It sounds like a 350ci, and there's plenty of aftermarket kit for them - aluminium (sorry, aloominum) big valve heads, tubular headers, fuel injection etc. Have a lookSummit's website for inspiration. Quite a few dealers of parts in the UK too - Real Steel, USAutomotive
Chevy V8 was strangled by the emissions law, along with the rest of them. Compression and airflow are the biggies to look at. A top end kit with cam, intake and high flow aftermarket heads will give you a lot more power without touching the bottom end. The chevy 350 is fairly easily stroked to 393 ci as a further cheap way to get more power. Not sure the impact of the extra torque on the rest of your driveline however.
"How to build max performance chevy small blocks on a budget" is a brilliant starting point book, with dyno'd combinations on different parts at the end to see what the different combos should give you.

Dodge Make a 5.7 Hemi,Mistake perhaps in calling it a Chevy!I recall standing near a fuelling dock the first time I visited Florida, a powerboat took on 100 gallons of gasoline and rumbled off into the sea, sounding like the car chase from Bullit.
Imagine my surprise when, not long after, it returned to refuel. That's when I realised that powerboats were probably going to be beyond my reach for a while and I should probably aim for something cheaper to run, like a Ferrari.

I've seen reports that if you tune the engine for more power it can drain a big tank of fuel very fast, especially if you're trying to push a hull beyond its design speed.
