New Cross Wheels

I'm looking for a second set of wheels for my boardman cross bike.

Any suggestions please?

Kinesis Crosslight CX Disk

I've got a set on mine. £250 ish, 1590g all in and the latest version is 11 speed compatible (annoyingly bought one of the last batch of 10 speed only wheels last year)

They are wide 23mm rims, and seem to sit in the sweet spot of the price vs performance chart. If there's better for less I haven't seen them.

I've done half a season of CX on them and they're still straight. I ran them in the last 4 races tubeless and they've been fantastic. With the right tyres I really felt a benefit and found myself able to out maneovre many of my rivals on the slippy off camber stuff. They did burp when I tried to use normal folding Racing Ralphs tubeless but then found a better tyre (still not strictly tubeless) but it's stayed up when running in the low 20s psi range.

I've been running Iron Cross rims on Hope hubs for the past year or so on my CX bike and they've been fantastic. Currently running them tubeless with Racing Ralphs but no burping with them yet, The lowest I've been running them though has been about 27psi through the summer.

One thing I would say though is that for not much more than the price of the wheels in the link, you can get Hope Hoops built up with the Iron Cross or Alpha tubeless rims and I think the Hope's are better hubs than the Novatech's.

I'm considering a pair of Shimano rx31 - my local bike shop is offering me a good price on them as spare CX wheels to run road tyres on. I am on a budget before everyone tells me that for £300 I can have......

Apparently not that difficult if you get a copy of the Wheelpro book and follow the instructions!
I've just finished getting the stuff together and intend to try and build my first wheels sometime soon

I find building wheels quite relaxing, but I've been building them for thirty years...
