£100K Garage: Josh Bowe

From a Cobra to a Subaru, Josh's selection has it all ... now he just needs the £100K

Name: Josh Bowe
Previously owned: Citroen Xsara VTR, Jaguar X-Type, Honda S2000
Currently owned: Push bike! Sold the S2000 to put towards a deposit on a mortgage...
On the shortlist: "A car for every situation, painted black..."

Gardner Douglas Mk4 AC Cobra
Cost:
£39,995
Balance: £60,005
Why I chose it: "A seriously cool toy for those lovely British summer days. For me it looks the business in black without all the chrome. It might offend the purists, but when it looks this good and has a 400hp 6.3-litre V8, who cares?! This is also £100K garage not £10M garage, so the real thing is a bit out of reach. I love the reputation of these cars and the British/American combination, it's a muscle car that works on British roads and has the steering wheel on the right side. It makes Astons and Ferraris look common and offends non-petrolheads and badge snobs alike. Plus it's going to make one hell of a noise."

Fancy a continuation Cobra? More here.

Jaguar XKR
Cost:
£13,995
Balance: £46,010
Why I chose it: "The everyday car. In Monday to Friday rush hour, stop-start traffic, the auto box is king in my (lazy) eyes. Just for the record it's a black Jag, with a supercharged V8, which is very cool. It's the perfect car for wafting quickly through inner city traffic and across the great British countryside alike. This example looks like it has been well cared for and the black on black colour combo is suitably sinister."

Plenty more XKRs to choose from here.

Ford F100
Cost:
£11,000
Balance: £35,010
Why I chose it: "A very cool utility vehicle for putting bikes, kayaks and general big stuff in! I was looking for a Defender V8 for this role, then stumbled along this and decided it was way cooler and the Impreza and the Range Rover could cope with a bit of snow should our winter go that way again."

Subaru Impreza RB320
Cost:
£15,495
Balance: £19,515
Why I chose it: "It's raining outside, you need to be somewhere quickly. Is there anything quicker point to point over A/B-Roads in normal British weather than an Impreza or Evo? I'm not going to start the age old debate between the two, I'm sure most of you will know where your allegiances lie but either way you'll have a healthy respect for the other party. For me I'm a fan of both, but this one is cheaper than an Evo VIII FQ360 and looks pretty mean in black."

Like the Impreza? More like this.

Range Rover Sport Supercharged
Cost:
£14,989
Balance: £4,526
Why I chose it: "The Mrs is going to need something to potter about in. She can put her (ISOFIX requiring) nieces, friends and as much shopping as she desires in this, then I can steal it when for some strange reason I don't need any of the other vehicles in this garage!"

Range Rover Sports for sale in the classifieds.

Mk2 Golf GTI 16V
Cost:
£2,800
Balance: £1,726
Why I chose it: "A fast appreciating classic that will make you feel like you're 18 again! The coilovers and wheels might not be to all tastes, but you're not likely to care what other people think when you're behaving like a hoonigan in the local supermarket car park ... I mean, sorry officer, driving very sensibly like we all did as young adults...

"That would leave £1,726 to take the Mrs somewhere sunny, which would hopefully take her mind off the six vehicles outside!"

More Mk2 Golf GTIs.

Interesting mix, and kinda cool to see a colour theme. smile

That Cobra... smile

And the jag as a commute car though? I can see the auto being good, but I hope you have a decent sized parking space available, it's not exactly a tiny city runabout is it? tongue out

Was talking to a friend in work earlier today about MkII GTI's being an appreciating asset too. Thing is, I'm not sure they're going to appreciate more than the running costs of keeping them. But then even at that, they're cost neutral I guess.

Money in the garage rather than in the bank is good though, if you're getting value in the form of fun better than the banks' 0.00001% interest rates! biggrin

It may not be diverse in colour but it's diverse in just about every other aspect! Also loving the F100, very unusual choice.

The garage is also diverse in looks; the Cobra is as beautiful as that GTI is fugly, the arches and deep dish wheels are not my cup of tea, at least not on a Golf!

Maybe I will not buy the same, but I respect it in every way. Top 100k, best so far!

Lovely cobra, lovely impreza, I even like the inevitable german choice...

Just the RR is the thing I don't get, but I suppose it is because I am not british.

This is a really good £100k garage - I like it a lot, especially the F100 and replica Cobra - inspired!

Personally I would skip the RR Sport and would have to have at least one convertible in the garage but I guess you could argue I'd then be stuck in the snow without a roof...

Perfect apart from the RR sport, I'd have gone for a full fat as they are faster, larger inside, better off-road from my experiences. Nice choice on the F100 very left field and very cool!

Favourite £100k so far just for colour coding and the retro truck although I'd have gone Chevrolet I think.

My OCD approves - each car the same colour.

I've tried to go a single colour £100k garage & couldn't find the right cars in the right colour with a manual gearbox (right gearbox).

Drove briefly a Cobra a few months ago. They are like a kitcar, and not all that pretty in the flesh. Vastly overrated.

liking this garage - the only thing I'd change is the VW. Other than that I could even agree the case for the scooby. Nice odd-ball garage (and I agree with the RRS s/c'd, mainly 'cause I chose the same lol)

Really great choices. However, I'd use the final £1726 to give that Golf a more original look, or at least find one that hasn't been messed with in the first place.

Awesome selection! Specially the F100, I'm not 100% sure I like the chopped roof but I love it otherwise. REALLY my sort of thing!

I like the GTI too, perhaps I wouldn't get one at my age. But I have fun memories of my own MK2 smile

Less than 15k for an RR supercharged ? Is that what they've descended to in just a few years ?

They are approaching a decade old now
