In reviewing the model year info I found this statement "the 1993MY was the first USA Stevens' model without the glassback design."

Can someone explain this in more detail please?

Thx

The space over the engine cover with the slots in used to have a slightly curved rear windscreen fitted. It came down to about 2 inches from the boot lid so the heat could escape. My last Esprit (1989) had it on. I'll email you a picture if you like.

Why Stevens took the glass out is beyond me. What he did find per the many books about the car was that they found the aerodynamics to be upset with the window out. That was the impetus for putting in the first spoilers.

As we have seen, Stevens put the window back in for the McLaren F1.

What I did find with my '89 was that by following the advice of Wally was to take out the other sections of the under body pan to improve the cooling of the engine bay. I did not have the need to put in the SS clutch hose, even here in Louisiana.
