Region 1 DVDs

Hi,

Buying a region 1 (US) NTSC DVD as a Chrimbo present for my brother. Am I correct in thinking this will play fine on a multi-region DVD player in the UK on UK voltages with a UK PAL TV, and also I will be able to do a DVD rip of it?

I am not sure whether he has a multi-region player, but if not want to be sure he can play it on his PC!

Must be a reasonably new pal tv.. the old ones won't play ntsc..

Some pc dvd players won't play ntsc..

If he has a multi region player.. with an RCE hack (if the disc is RCE) he will be able to play it.

He has a new widescreen telly, but I have a feeling his Sont DVD is region 2 only, and un-hackable

He uses an Xbox Media Centre setup so rips all his DVDs and watch them from hard disk, so hopefully it should be ok, even if he has to rip it at work or with a different DVD drive...

Does that make sense?
