Motorway, rain, night and all I seem to get from the highly recommended AeroTwin wipers is a good clean wipe on the way up and a jumpy, smeary, splodge on the way down.

Can any one recommend another wiper as this is the second set I've had and they're poo?

(if you have more important things to do on a Thursday PM, please do so. If you can advise, thank you).

Clean windscreen -check
Wiper arms - check
clean wiper blades - check

All done. Valid points though...

Can anyone suggest a good alternative from first hand experience or is the general consensus that I am being too fussy and AeroTwin wipers are the best, so there?

OE ones that are tuned for the windscreen are probably best. (Yes believe it or not many are actually tuned for the windscreen to ensure they get good pressure on the screen all the way along)

Hmm. My last car, a 2007 Focus, came supplied with unbranded Bosch Aerotwins as OEM. I replaced them with branded ones when they wore out, for much the same performance. When I came to replace them again, however, I discovered that Ford were now flogging Motorcraft blades from their dealers at about 55% of the price of an Aerotwin set, manufacturer unknown but performance seems fine. What's better - the "Original" OEM, which is now a 3rd party part, or the "New" OEM which is different from the original!

Have you been cleaning your windscreen with something specific? Every time I used the Polish car wash whatever they put on the windows caused the wipers to be noisy and smear crap everywhere. I washed the screen with neat Fairy liquid, rinsed it off and used some Autoglym glass polish and dont let them spray anything on the glass

I think I'm using £5 aero blades from ebay and they've been OK, Halfords Bosch flat ones before that
