Maybe he thought the tram would swerve as the bus pulled out.

I was told it is illegal to overtake a tram even if it is stationary collecting passengers. Is this true???!!!

I mostly work in Houston where they have a downtown tram system.

There's an amazing amount of idiotic accidents where people pull in front of the tram somehow expecting it to swerve or just throw the brakes on.

I have never understood the need for trams. Stupid idea that should have been abandoned long ago.

Only a stupid idea when you mix them up with other traffic. As a light rail system if they end up being faster than busses with the ability to be integrated with train lines etc, they do make sense.

Not much detail there, so it's possible the bus had to swerve round someone stepping out. That Houston link is shocking, particularly as the presenter seems to be blaming the trams.

Every politician, councillor and planner wants to leave a legacy that they will be remembered by. Hence the big halo projects that exist where there was previously no requirement.

See Millennium dome, HS2 etc.

I have to say that for the majority of Houston drivers, the actual act of driving is about the 4th most important thing going on when they're out in the car well behind being on the ipad, grooming the dog, applying make up or eating cornflakes.

The driving test is pathetically easy too and that's if they even have a license.

To be fair your average Houston driver will smash into just about any object you care to name because they're either texting, eating, drinking, drunk or a combination of all 4, the useless, incompetent fks.
Their dangerous driving and the mosquitoes are about the only things I don't miss about the place. smile

No problem. You have lots of time left.

With some dedicated preparation you can still catch up on your ipad, grooming the dog, applying make up or eating cornflakes skills. That way you'll be sure to fit in and not seem a clueless tourist driver! smile

On the strength of that film, I'm not sure that it's the tram that's the problem.
