Can anyone help me out on a cable question.

Just got lovely new Lcd Sony Tv and noticed it has S-Vhs input, also remembered Dvd player has same as output. Never used this before as previous telly was a hand me down from Noah and came from his Ark - basically is it is worth changing from current scart cable to s-vhs and if so is it a straight swap i.e does it carry video and audio or will I require seperate phono connection for the audio.

S-video is picture only, so yes, you will need phono leads. To be honest, if the Scart is RGB, you won't notice any difference at all.

S-video cables do NOT carry audio.

But dont confuse cables with signal types

Scart is a connector type and can cary composite, s-video or RGB, and sound, and input switching signals etc.

A good quality scart cable will be as good as an s-video cable, go for RGB if you can.

Thanks peeps, have a dislike of Scarts as they seem overly bulky for this day and age, but if the other option requires 3 cables and quality is not neccesarily better then might as well stick with what I have.
