Which console - 12 year old girl?
Discussion
Morning all,
I know very, very little about video games, only having a family Wii in the house, and am seeking guidance as to 'which console is best' for my daughter's impending 12th birthday, please.
Firstly, she LOVES Minecraft. I've no idea why (looks like Commodore 64 stuff to me!), but during a recent trip to the U.S., my daughter expressed a wish to get an XBox360. Her cousin in the U.S. has both a 360 and a One in his bedroom!
My daughter's been playing Minecraft on her Android tablet for some time, and I think her only wish to have an XBox is because Minecraft's available for it.
To my questions,
- Minecraft's a PC game: isn't it better to buy that for the PC than buying (an outdated, defunct?) 360 simply to play that?
- I read the One's not backward compatible with the 360, and I think it's bloody expensive at ~€500 locally, is it "worth it"?
- of the consoles currently available, I'm not sure the 360 will remain in production, so is the PS4 or One better, long term?
Having had a looked at the games available, I'm not sure I want my little one playing Halo or Black Ops all the time, as my nephew does. He's a year younger and is certainly influenced by what he's playing on!
Sorry for the long post, and I hope my questions make sense at this time on a Sunday morning.
Look forward to your collective advice and knowledge.

The PC makes a bit more sense IMO. Minecraft on PC is by far the best version and is where all of the new feature arrive first.
Added to that there is so much more that can be done on a PC than a console in terms of content creation. At some point in the near future she'll get into photography, or movie making, or music production, or something, and she'll need a PC to do that properly.
