It started as a bit of an itch, then excruciating itch followed by a rash (red pin pricks) spreading all over, my face is now puffy. Glands don't seem swollen and I'm exhausted no energy whatsover walking down stairs is enough to drain my energy, sleeping an hour, waking an hour, 24hr a day etc since Sunday night.

The rash has gone from some places leaving the skin pink and red (like sunburn or getting out of a hot bath)

The Doc thinks it's an allergic reaction to some non specific thing) and given me some antihistamine and some steriod pills. These seem to have reduced the itiching and skin sensitivity.

I havn't done or eaten enything out of the ordinary, no changes in washing powder clothing bed clothes towels etc.

Does this sound like an allergiic reaction or could it be some sort of virus? Is it too early to back to the Doc's? or should I just "mam it out" for a bit?

I was going to suggest coeliac, but that is kind of an allergy. As you have seen a doc I would give it a few more days before changing anything or you won't know what worked.

Thanks I've just looked at coeliac. I don't think it's this.

I'm no Doc but I've had Shingles.

Lots of pain then the rash started kinda like you describe. But it only tends to be on one side of your body. Caused by being run down I think.

Rosacea? Can be caused by stress?

Thanks chaps.

I don't think it's shingles or rosace. This came on very suddenly and doesn't fit the pattern.

The rash is starting to go now and feeling a bit better. I wonder if I've had Rubella? It's the only thing I can find that fits most of the symptoms.
