Hi Mark,
I went for the Alcon 295mm setup from David Gerald as I wanted to retain my existing 15" Estoris on the front. I was sold on the Alcon kit as like AP and Brembo they supply to OEM so I was happy the quality would be up to scratch. The fact it is a direct bolt on kit, adapters required was appealing as well.
I was never that impressed with the feel of the existing setup even after upgrading to Dot5.1 fluid, braided hoses and Ferrodo pads. The existing setup IMO is more than adequate for road use but it never gave me confidence in the brakes. The new setup is spot on, the pedal travel is reduced and the brakes have a much more positive bite.
I decided to upgrade mine after doing a couple of track days and experiencing bad brake fade. The existing brakes were good for about 2 big stops and then started to suffer. The new setup blew me away on track, especially Bedford GT where you brake down from 140+ on the straight, and the brakes just would not fade no matter how hard and often I used them. I really pleased with them.

I was also tempted by the AP 295mm setup from Reyland but it was out of my price range.... http://www.reyland.co.uk/tvr/

I had the pleasure of meeting Hans at the Growl this year and he showed his new kit, based on a Highspec calliper if memory serves me correct. I do not know much about Highpec apart from they are based in Dartford but the finish and quality of the engraved TVR logo are very impressive.

I had a very good chat to the guys at Hi-Spec a couple of months ago as I am planning a full brake upgrade over the next winter layup. Really knowledgeble and fully committed to quality kit. They make all their brake components, hence they are more expensive say than the 'internet/ebay' disk prices, but the did say every disc is balanced and true. They do make to order so not 'off the shelf'. They do a kit for Griff 15" front wheels which is a bonus. Also you can buy matching rear calipers and discs of a higher spec. They quoted me a good price compared to what some charge, but they are not cheap. They supply only so you would either have to fit yourself or get a garage to fit.PeteGriff said:
