For ten points ( not pints! ), who can correctly identify this aircraft?







For a further ten points, can anyone tell me how it came to be there, then left to die abandoned at a small grass airfield in North Essex? There can't be many examples left now.

Photos were taken 3 weeks ago at Andrews Field, which used to be a U.S.A.F. Marauder bomber base in WW II.

At first sight, I thought it was a MIG-17, but it had no wing fences, then I noticed the faded roundels.......

When did they move out & where did they move to?

Yes, it says the Rebel Air Museum abandoned it when they relocated to Earls Colne 'many years ago'. You live & learn! I never knew it existed.*

One Google link to RinkRats post gives a good history of Andrews Field.

• I mean the museum obviously.

I knew Earls Colne existed because that's where I bought my TVR.
