Snetterton Novice Day - 8th Sept
Discussion
Which variant of Snetterton is it? The 100 is really small (usually used for drift days and so on), so I'd imagine it's either the 200 or 300 circuit.
I went on my first track day on the 200 circuit and found it pretty safe for a first time. The run-off areas are generally pretty forgiving. I wasn't really pushing as hard as I could (my car was my daily and I didn't fancy writing it off). Watch out for Coram; it isn't a hard corner until you start pushing and then it becomes a bit of a battle to keep the car pointing where you want, especially when you enter the braking zone for Murrays which follows it.
By that point you'll be at a decent speed (maybe 80+?) on a long right-hand bend but then asked to turn into a sharp left-hander and lose some speed. It's quite easy to destabilize the car under braking here so be careful.
Should be fine as a first trackday as long as you don't overdo things. It's quite demanding on your brakes and front-left tyre (that was my experience anyway).

Was at the Snetterton 300 circuit on Monday (MSV day) in a Westfield.
Drove up from Southampton, so a long old day but having been several times before, I love the track and it's worth the journey for me. Has a bit of everything, is pretty technical but has some generous run off areas, should you get it wrong, although try and stay off the grass! As mentioned earlier, Coram is quick and challenging but so satisfying when you get the entry, line and braking right. Make sure your oil levels are topped right up though, to avoid potential starvation as it's a long, high-speed right-hander.
Took my lad up for his first drive and he had a couple of moments but learnt quickly and thoroughly enjoyed it. Indeed he can't stop talking about it and is already asking me when we're going again. Suddenly my car has become 'our car!'
I can't fault MSV either. Always run a very good day, are friendly and helpful and attract a good paddock. Was certainly a high standard of driving and etiquette on Monday, which only adds to the day.
Oh and try and get some tuition if you can and as early as possible. It's 100% worth it and you'll get a lot more out of the day.
I'm sure you'll have a blinding time. Enjoy!!

My one piece of advice to add is to stay off the track if it is wet. There's no point in going around at 2/3rds speed. Lose the car and you could be in the barriers, like the MGB owner on my last day there. He wiped out both ends of the car.
Good track for a novice, have fun
DON'T forget your driving licence.....no licence, no track day.
And some form of payment - you will almost certainly need more fuel. My car uses twice as much on track as on the road.
