I have spent the later part of the day investigating the following :-

Activating the indicators causes the voltage at the voltmeter to fluctuate between 11.1v and 12V in unison with the indicator relay clicking. The symptom is also apparent in the speedo needle.
In addition, which is probably related to the above, braking at speeds > 60mph causes the speedo needle to jump.

I have checked the following :-
Resistance from battery earth to earth on voltmeter ~ 0 ohms. +12.09 volts green/black on all dials and indicator/hazard flasher unit. Everthing else appears to be reading and working fine.

Has anyone experienced the same ? don't tell me its a common thing with these cars !

Also try sitting at a constant speed - Say on a motoway, and flick your lights on and watch your RPM drop

Mine has started to play up again so I’ll be under the bonnet tonight to clean the earth point, it might be worth trying this as well.
