Sorry, I know there are some massive threads re whisky here, but they'll take some wading through.

Basically a colleague in Germany is asking me to take a bottle of something nice when I drive over there this weekend.

He hasn't expressed a preference for whether it's smoky, delicate, light or rich so open to pretty much any suggestions. Budget is up to £100 and I need to be able to have it tomorrow.

Lagavulin 16 you can get in a supermarket, costs just under £50.

If you can get to a decent shop by tomorrow, Bowmore Tempest.

I'm sure he'd be happy with either.

There are no bad malts, just good malts and better malts.

Any malt you buy close to £100 is going to be excellent.

In that case go for Lagavulin 16 and Glenlivet 18, you could get both for £100.

He'd be even happier.

Thanks All, have gone for the Glenlivet 18 and an Islay tasting set which includes the Lagavulin.
