Does anyone else get this? Does everyone get this?!

Put a (refundable) deposit down on a car 2 hours away today which I was really excited for.

The second I put the phone down I got buyers remorse and changed my mind.

Either way, it's a 4 hour round trip to get my money back or buy the car.

Does anyone else get like this?

To put it into perspective it's a £22k purchase which, to me, is a lot of £££!

Yes, a few weeks ago but I went through with it and hate it. Now I'm looking at a £1.5k loss to shuffle it on and get something new.

To put it bluntly, and not to be rude to you of course, I seriously think it through when I'm about to spend money.
It's got the point where I work things out into 'how many hours after tax would I have to work to buy this'.
I know it's extreme, and I know I'm sad to some folk, but I save half my wages every week with relative ease.

Yep, it's like a cold chill down your spine. As I am a bit special and over-think ALL buying decisions
I get this a lot!

Nope.

I only buy a car I want. I will "happily" view 10 or more cars until I find the right one.

Me too. I find it easier to let my missus buy things - women are much more used to spending money than blokes!

I only ever regretted buying one car. And that was the one my wife told me not to buy, that wrapped a con rod around the crank, on the way home.

The worst thing is when you've been car / bike / whateveryourfancy hunting for months, finally think you've found the perfect one, pick it up (or put down a deposit) and then the next day you see a better version of it going for cheaper frown

Anyway, back to the OP - Going from a ~300 bhp car to a ~45 bhp old mini bought unseen on ebay, unable to engage reverse as I drove away from the sellers house I sat in it thinking "This is a piece of st. What have I done?"
But 15 minutes later I was loving it and laughing my head off the whole 2 hour drive home...

Do you regret it because it broke or because you've had years of the wife saying "I told you...."?

The closest thing I have had to buyers remorse is bidding on a Volvo 850 T5R on ebay whilst I was pissed, my Dads ebay account - and him texting me the morning after telling me to get to the bank to withdraw the money as we had a trip to Carterton near Brize Norton to pick a car up at the weekend!!

Ended up not regretting it, cracking car after a bit of TLC - shouldn't have sold it.

Sellers remorse anyone?

I've been fearful of my decisions and thought that I may have been foolish but I take chances, I've always bought the first car I looked at (I do my research, but my heart always wins) I've never wanted to give a car back and reckon that it's me that needs to adapt to the situation that trying to change what cannot be changed. So far I've not felt a need to regret anything (Touch wood)

13 plate A3 with a lot of options ticked - heated full leather, cruise, automatic everything!

Perfect for the commute, but I already have an (older) A3 and wonder whether I should just get any issues fixed and plod on with it...

Up until the deposit was paid I was sure it was the right thing to do.

Its psychology... Want what I can't have etc.

Refundable deposit on a car you haven't seen?

You haven't bought it and I hope the dealer hasn't taken it off of sale.

Always get it, because I hate spending money but love buying cars.
