Back Up Camera

Well I was notified by my dealer that they are retrofitting back up cameras. Somewhere along the line I did read that the 2012 cars were not included in this offering and it was confirmed. Dealer said the 2012 retro is in the works, but car dealers have been known to stretch the truth a bit. Anyone here with some insight on that development? It actually is an option I would have retro'd. Thanks all.

My V12 came with a retrofitted kenwood system, the front and back cameras show on the satnav, the rear automatically when the car is in reverse. TBH I could live without it.

Your 12MY car will be fitted with the Volvo based system which wasn't really set up for parking cameras. I can supply a kit for you though, but you would need to employ someone with a soldering iron! I can talk you or whomsoever is installing it and supply detailed instructions if required.

The later Garmin Navigation systems, first available in the UK specced Virage, had the ability for a camera input. However the software for auto nav screen lift wasn't available until 13.5MY and needed a config file downloaded to activate. The fun bit is adding a front camera as well....

Thanks for the reply. So I have a US Virage with a Garmin. Soldering is not a problem but I'd want to keep this all AM spec'd as long as they gave me a warranty. Is the system you provide the same as the AM version and how is the software installed?
