I was amazed to see that the new TTS is going to be substantially more expensive than an M235i.

Isn't this a bit of a on own goal from Audi? Face to face with the best value BMW, it looks like an expensive bugger.

I don't think it'll matter to most of the people who buy TTs.

More to the point: What have BMW done to the Z4? The current model isn't even on the petrolhead's radar.

Agree and if I was given the choice I would take the M235i over the Audi TTS as clearly the beemer is a more focussed drivers machine imo but the TT has always hit the spot for the market that it is aimed at though.

Surely the S3 is the direct competition and as mentioned the Z4 competes with the TT

the 235i is like many modern sports cars, very competently setup, very easy to driver hard and totally devoid of involvement, its like playing forza 5 with a controller

I still would still buy one over the TT in a heartbeat thou, 40K plus options, its just an insane price

Yes I hear what you are saying and that is the argument with modern cars they are just too competent and you have to be driving like a real donut for them to feel exciting...my problem is I prefer how a RWD car feels overall so I always tend to go that way as my preference.

I'm itching to try one with a proper diff. I think it will make the world of difference!

Amazingly the Audi will have better residual values too. It just goes to show the majority of people who buy Audi's.

I would take a 235i every day of the week. Although I am biased as had to get one for myself.

I was lucky enough to be invited to try a few BMW's. Three of the cars I got to try where an M235i, M3 & an M4. I couldn't afford the latter two anyway, but in all honesty, I thought the M235i was the nicest to drive. It just felt so planted on the road; although you could feel a slight lack of speed compared to the other two.
