Brighton Speed Trials Tomorrow

Great day. We took a convoy of TVRs down there & parked in the marina.
Got the chance to chat to most of the TVR owners running their cars down the straight.
So nice to see the event back after it was cancelled last year, numbers were up by the look of it but still nowhere near a few years ago.
I love this event & hope it continues to grow.

I spent most of the a noon entertaining spectators trying to smash off the metro lock that I forgot the ruddy key for.....

Hello,
I was the guy who came over to chat to you (with the Chimaera). Glad to see you got it off in the end. Hope it didn't cost you too much. We had a really good day, I assume you had some time to watch the runnings and enjoy the afternoon.
Hope to see you again at a TVR meet in the future.
Dan
Hi Dan, what a nightmare lol, the locksmith Richard charged me £60 cash, 3 mins work, but hey, he was grt and my own fault, I left my brain behind on sat morn, too much girlfriend crap going on at the mo !
I saw a bit of the runs, highlight of the day for me was seeing that ruddy F40 ( awesome once into 2nd ) the heavily modded H1500 which only did a high 14 sec run ( I did a 13.7 @ 97 in 1980 on my Becket tuned H1F 500 @ the Pod with too high gearing ) and hearing the H2B750 as I was walking back !
Fantastic blast down and an awesome blast back, I can't believe how the old warrior still turns heads like it does, inc the guy in the Silver 996 Turbo.
I Recently fitted my car ( Steve Heaths old one ) with a new ACT smooth induction kit, that and a new dizzy cap and rotor arm means that it's now hitting 6,000 before the rev limiter kicks in, it feels very quick now, with more to come as it's running very rich on the over run, it still has an Intermotor ignition coil and the cam is old tech. It hasn't been on the rollers since 2002, when Mark Adams and Tower View did the engine build and set up.
However it's in dire need of new rear Bilsteins, a geo alignment and the correct profile front tyres as it's got non pas profile front tires at the mo, which makes the steering terribly light and over sensitive.
Let me know if your ever Essex way.

I was standing near you at the rail and saw you working on your car. There was a Big Hammer lying on the pavement by your rear wheel and I assumed that this was an essential part of your toolkit! Later, when I saw you levering away at something under the dash I said to my other half that perhaps you were stealing it. She said he's a bit slow at it though, isn't he? As you were clearly younger and more powerfully built than me, I thought better of coming over to enquire...

I must admit, I was surprised at how many people stopped and looked over your car, I think being an owner you get used to how they look and of course we see lots of them about at shows. But after you had left, I reckon every other person was stopping for a good look around it!I saw a bit of the runs, highlight of the day for me was seeing that ruddy F40 ( awesome once into 2nd ) the heavily modded H1500 which only did a high 14 sec run ( I did a 13.7 @ 97 in 1980 on my Becket tuned H1F 500 @ the Pod with too high gearing ) and hearing the H2B750 as I was walking back !

Your car did sound good, I'm assuming it's a 500. I recently fitted the ACT smoothbore induction kit to mine, along with a new V8D cam, ACT carbon superflare trumpets and a load of other bits whilst it was all apart. It's a different car now, very willing to rev, very smooth and much easier to drive. It's a lot more powerful too. Mine's only the 400, but it's very quick, I was very happy with my mods.
Hello Dan, yes a 98 500. So I caused a bit of a stir then re people coming over to look at it !
I did expect plod to turn up at any second !
I must get the rear Bilsteins either rebuilt or replaced, new front tires and the geo sorted, as it's very floaty ( rebound damping terrible ) at the rear, far too much body roll and very over steery. But with summer coming to a close I wonder if the £ can be saved until next year, as the planned trip to France and Germany this summer isn't likely to happen now, due to splitting with Janey.
Any photos of your engine mods ? Inc the ACT trumpets ?
