I have been trying to increase the agreed value of my s3, purely to cover the cost of new parts fitted, but they increased it by less than I asked for, which annoyed me greatly. Does anyone know approximately the maximum value for a very good condition S3confusedconfused? I'm thinking around £8,000

I spoke to a insurance company recently and they
said they would always look at the car after a crash and value it then by its condition, , don't think its worth the paper its written on half the time,

To my illogical mind the actual value is irrelevant, if you are paying a premium calculated on £8000 they have "covered" themselves to pay out £8000 in a total loss situation?

There are at least a couple of V8S's around insured for a hell of a lot more than that!!!!! wink

...I was going to ask about something similar. I note that the club have just started giving free valuations to members...has anyone used it yet? ... And what sort of results have they been giving to S series?

...might give mine a wash today and pretend it looks concours and send in the photos to see what they say... wink

...found it...

....from my memory of conversations on the EuroTour (somewhat distorted by alcohol) ...I think we should start with what I heard about Simons V8 as a start point and work down from there... wink

It's not in afraid, (I work in accident repair) unless you have some on the car like a £10k engine, to prove it's worth X amount more.
They will normally just pay out a average price of the current market value.
Even if you have agreed more

Hi Mark,
It's hard to put a value on an S, but I think to get that sort of valuation, you'd have to get your S3 resprayed in blue.

Mine has £7k on it, which having spent a fortune on new stoppers this year will be more like £50k next year, I am sure.

I would suggest you might have a word with Peter James Insurance who are very heavily into the classic market and seem to have a very good understanding of our needs. They will however require a full portfolio of pictures and list of restoration work done if you want an agreed valuation over the 'market' value of the car. To be honest I think that is quite reasonable. If you are going to Goodwood they will be there. (You might have seen advertising with Peter James and Stirling Moss together)

I've got an S4 that's insured for £10k based upon a dealer valuation.

But of course, as Glenn says - it's priceless really.
