I want to buy 12 tyres from the US and ship them over to the UK.

Sea freight to Hull is fine.

How can I do it/cheapest method?

I don't want to have to mess about with a shipping agent at the dockside, and ideally would like them delivered to my door.

DHL?

Ron Fenton at STS Imports has a regular container from Florida to the UK.

You have it delivered to his place there, he ships it and takes care of the import taxes and delivers to you.

Question for you: Are they legal for UK use? The only reason I ask is that some years back we imported a couple of trailers into the UK that had non E-Marked tyres that weren't road legal. They had to be swapped in order for the trailer to be legal.

We also had to swap the axles and tow hitches too, for similar reasons, although the UK spec stuff was in a different league in terms of braking performance anyway, so there was a huge benefit.

Non E marked tyres are not actually illegal to use in the UK, or anyone who drove here from outside the EU on holiday/freight etc would have to change their tyres at the ferry terminal.

It is however unlawful to supply them here for use in the UK.

However if you import/fit them for your own use then it's OK, but of course you still have possible con/use/insurance issues if they are not suitable/adequate/safe etc.

Right, ok, didn't know that.

We had to swap the axles anyway since the originals had electric brakes which aren't easily compatible with UK vehicles., so it made sense to us to swap the wheels/tyres too.
