Don't know if they were all factory fitted or what but a tip for anyone thinking of changing their old door speakers, is that the size you might have in now mine 130mm (5.25") is not he size you might need to replace them with.
I bought new 130mm speakers but it seams that in their wisdom somewhere down the line that manufacturers decided to put the fastening holes on the outside of the 130mm diameter that is used to determine the speaker size, this means that the finished speaker is physically bigger, not a problem if you have space to cut the hole bigger but as they already fit right into the corner of the door this would be difficult to cut and get right.
My old speakers had the fastening holes just on the inside diameter of the speaker with the cover for them fitting just over and virtually the same size, the new speaker cover fits over extended fixing lugs and thus makes the diameter of the new supposedly 130mm speaker much bigger.
Anyway not much of a problem as the new 5.25" speakers now fit the old 6.5" speakers in the back, again not much space so if new 6.5" had been bought they would not fit.
New 100mm (4") speakers on there way to fit into the doors, already checked and these fit perfectly in the old speaker hole.
I did look by the way but could not find any speakers that that have the fixing hole these days through the actual speaker, they all have lugs that extend the fixing diameter making them much bigger when the speaker cover is on.

How is it possible to listen to the radio cassette in a V8 Wedge? Roof on perhaps? On longer runs I use an earplug in my right ear to cut down the wind blast noise.

Was out today for a right good blast

I did actually look at the radio and thout, I wonder if it works, turned the knob, found a station, turned it up to the max and I still couldn't hear it over the exhaust lol

At least I know it works lol

If you remove the suppression for the radio you get the old school supercharger noise coming through the speakers..Back in the day some of my chavvie mates believed it was a real supercharger...... laugh

As already pointed out the best speakers are 3 1/2 inch, (don't know what that is in metric), made from stainless steel, and stick out the back of the car......
Roar on !

Another supplement idea is to put 2 small speakers in each headrest. They don't show and you don't need to perforate the headset although it might help. There are a couple of old threads on this as the recommended speakers are a Miata/MX5 upgrade. Grady

When I bought my wedge many years ago the speakers were f****d but it didnt bother me cos the sound of the car was and is still addictive but I did decide I wanted the option of haveing a sound system. I got 4 second hand ones from a cerbera of the flea and they fitted without to much hassle. Now I can tell you you can hear these mothers when bombing down the motorway at above the legal limit no problem at all, well except for the ringing on your ears after, ah ah its like a motorhead concert.
