Caerbont Gauges

Peeps, Any alternatives to the Caerbont gauges in my Chim. The water temperature gauge has lost calibration! I have changed the sensor with no change; in that the gauge drastically over reads, by approximately 2 to 1. I assume that replacements are no longer available.

I saw a stack of chim and other tvr guages at track v road when I picked my car up May be worth a call.

Many thanks for the suggestions, the fleabay ones are the wrong colour face (yes I know I'm being fussy!!!!) and trackvroad could not help.

Speedy cables say they can repair, thus this is the way I will start. Will let you know what happens,

Hi Folks, Speedy cables are not!!! At last I have the temperature gauge (I think) The paper work states oil temperature. Not impressed, I was quoted that the returned instrument would be a replica, not a repaired unit. I have no problem with a repaired unit, apart from the poor swaging of the bezel, but would it have been appreciated if original person spoken to had been more accurate. Also the returned gauge needed a new sensor, what they did not tell me was that the new sensor would not fit the original location, They also stated the new sensor has a 1/8th NPT thread, in fact it is 1/8th BSP.

Generally unimpressed with the quality and service. I will update you once an adaptor is sorted and the unit fitted.

Sorry may be a bit late now but the Smiths / Caerbont fuel gauges in my GT 40 replica need a voltage stabiliser to give an accurate reading.

Have you identified a supplier for such a stabiliser Nick? I have a similar issue

Hi Nick, unfortunately the gauge was in error even when tried on a separate power supply, but an interesting issue in that a voltage stabiliser is required. Are we talking a 9V supply?
